TORONTO, Ont. — Bridgestone/Firestone Canada Inc. is seeking nominees for its 2003 Canadian Truck Hero Award, to be presented at the Ontario Trucking Convention in November.

The award is presented annually to a professional truck driver who has shown incredible courage, integrity and quick-thinking in an emergency situation.

To qualify, a nominee must be employed full-time as a commercial transport truck driver for a Canadian company. The incident must have taken place between Oct. 1, 2002 and Sept. 20, 2003. A police statement or affidavit corroborating the driver’s actions is also required.

Consideration is given to the degree of personal danger assumed by the nominee; emergency procedures followed; type and degree of assistance given to victims; safety skills employed and use of proper safety equipment.

For nomination forms and detailed submission criteria, visit the Bridgestone/Firestone Canadian Truck Hero web site at www.truckhero.ca, or call 1-877-544-HERO (4376).
The deadline for nomination submissions is Oct. 15, 2003.
