TORONTO, Ont. — Truck World organizers say 19,996 people passed through the turnstiles Apr. 20-22, making it the largest trucking trade show in Canada and one of the top 10 shows in the country.

“Truck World 2006 was a tremendous success – attendance increased by 19.3% over the previous show and exhibitors have indicated that the quality of the audience was excellent, ” says Elizabeth McCullough, C.D.E., manager of Newcom Business Media’s Show Division.

There were more than 400 exhibits on-hand at the show as well as seminars which drew more than 1,000 visitors, organizers say. The VIP breakfast was also a hit, says McCullough, with more than 400 industry executives in attendance to hear Freightliner CEO Chris Patterson share his thoughts on the future of the industry.

Meanwhile, Bill Baker of W.A. Baker Trucking out of St. Catharines, Ont. won the Best of Show trophy in the Show Truck competition.
