Trucker Bob nabs civic honors

CORNWALL, Ont. — Bob Gauthier’s innovative Seaway Express has been named Business of The Year by the city of Cornwall.

Gauthier launched Seaway as a one-truck operation in 1990 and has since expanded it into a 50-employee hive of activity.

Seaway , with its 65 tractors and trailers, is uniquely positioned to help Cornwall further its reputation as a major distribution hub for eastern Canada.

As the closest trucking terminal to the mammoth Walmart SCM warehouse, which serves all of Eastern Canada, as well as the upcoming Shopper’s Drug Mart Matrix, Seaway works with other carriers to provide guaranteed high-quality on-time delivery.

Working with Seaway, carriers shipping into the distribution centers can avoid costly late-delivery fees and waiting times.

Seaway to Go! Linda and Bob Gauthier
with the ‘Business of the Year’ award

Cornwall Mayor Bob Kilger presented Gauthier and his wife Linda with the Business of the Year Award at the 2010 Cornwall Chamber of Commerce Business Excellence Awards Gala in February.

"Even though Cornwall has faced some recent challenges, its economy continues to grow and to experience success," the mayor told the Gauthiers. "That success is due, to a considerable extent, on its professional business sector and as the winner of the award, you have been recognized by your peers as a leader within that sector and have earned an enviable reputation throughout Eastern Ontario and Western Quebec."

The quality of his staff made the prestigious award possible, says Gauthier. "We have had the support of a great community and we look forward to the challenges ahead."
