Trucker Nailed at Border for Hauling Cocaine Bricks

WINDSOR, ON — The Canada Border Services Agency (CBSA) and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) announced on Thursday a big cocaine bust involving a truck driver.

On Sept, 16, 24.3 kilograms of cocaine were seized at the Ambassador Bridge in Windsor, when a 45-year-old commercial driver was referred for a secondary examination. While searching the truck, officers discovered 20 bricks of cocaine. CBSA officers seized the cocaine and arrested the individual.

The RCMP charged Ashvinder Singh Kundi of Guelph, ON with possession and trafficking along with importation of a controlled substance.

“These cocaine seizures show that the CBSA’s efforts to stop the smuggling of illicit drugs and keep contraband off our streets are working,” said Rick Comerford, regional director general, southern Ontario region, CBSA. I am proud of the work of our officers who are vigilant in their efforts to ensure our borders are not used for illegal activities.”

Since January 2014, the CBSA in the southern Ontario region has seized over 328 kilograms of cocaine at the southern Ontario ports of entry, including 52 kilograms from another truck driver at the Ambassador Bridge in July.
