Trucker Tom Boehler Wins 2011 Safety Professional of the Year

NEW HAMBURG, ON — The Erb Group of Companies announced today that Tom Boehler, director or safety and compliance, has won the 2011 Transportation Safety Professional of the Year Award from the Central Chapter of the Fleet Safety Council.

Boehler started at Erb back in 1997 as a Driver Trainer, staying in that positon for over three years before moving into Co-ordinator of Safety and Compliance with another company.

Boehler came back to Erb to take on the role of Corporate Driver Trainer & Compliance Manager. In January of 2008, he was appointed Director of Safety and Compliance.

Boehler is a busy man. He’s helped guide Erb’s automated driver log audits, driver procedures and manuals, the company-wide implementation of Turnpike Global, an entry-level program, and their pro-drive bonus program.

Boehler is also active outside of Erb. He serves on the district of Kitchener’s Safe Driver Award Banquet Team, a co-chair of the Markel Best Practice Council, and volunteers at the Central Ontario Regional Truck Driving Championships as well as the NASCAR 22 Canadian Tire Series Racing Team.

We’re pretty sure he doesn’t sleep.

Boehler and his team, Erb said, have been the driving force behind their many safety programs.

“Safety involves everyone," Boehler said. "It’s easy to come up with an idea, but it’s those that embrace it that make it successful.”
