Trucks and trophies

CALGARY — Stew Jutzi will need to get a bigger trophy case.

With 470 points out of a possible 500, Jutzi won the Canadian National Professional Truck Driving Championship for the Straight Truck Class.

The Straight Truck Class competition required a written test, a truck inspection, and, of course, a seven obstacle driving test.

Jutzi, a driver with Erb Transport for 23 years, also won the Ontario Truck Driving Championship Straight Truck Class in July, as well as the Grand Champion Award.

Awards Night! Stew with wife Cindy.

Jutzi was also part of Team Ontario. One guess as to which team took home the Team Award – yup, Team Ontario.

Stew, along with Clary Ward of Con-way Freight, Bryon Winfield from Home Hardware, Preetpal Nijjar with Canada Cartage Systems, and Bryan Heyworth from SLH Transport, beat out six other provinces.

Congrats to Stew, and all the professional drivers who took part in the competition!
