TTA fall site tour Oct. 8

TORONTO, Ont. — The Toronto Trucking Association will be holding its Fall Site Tour at Grand and Toy’s Vaughan distribution centre Oct. 8.

Grand & Toy has operated the Vaughan centre and adjoining sales office since it opened in 1998. The distribution centre is 191,000 sq. ft. and has a clear storage height of 30 ft. The office supports 202 Associates in 40,000 sq. ft. on two floors.

The distribution centre performs many functions for the commercial and retail channels. Office supply and furniture orders are filled for the Toronto, London, Kingston, Hamilton, North Bay and New Liskeard commercial regions. Furniture orders are filled for the Ottawa commercial region. Most stock for Ontario retail stores is replenished from the distribution centre. The centre stocks the full commercial catalogue of office supply and furniture SKUs, all retail specific SKUs, and local customer specific SKUs.

The Vaughan distribution centre has over a mile of Hytrol conveyor systems complete with an overhead scanner and sliding shoe diverter to sixteen interior shipping lanes. The layout uses a very narrow aisle racking configuration complete with a wire guided system, three carton flow racking modules, static shelving and three pick to belt carton pick modules. The workforce includes 400 associates and 24 department managers.
