The freight security research center at the Sauder School of Business, University of British Columbia (UBC), is currently undertaking a study to define supply chain security metrics, identify best practices that lead to secure supply chains and explore the impact that these security practices have on traditional supply chain performance. The study is focused on the stakeholders in the marine container supply chain.

This is an industry-focused study and an important part of our research involves gathering insights from supply chain professionals like you via an online web survey. The results of this research will be valuable to the supply chain community. It will help identify appropriate security Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for individual firms and across firms. It may encourage adoption of best practices and collaboration between stakeholders. The results will help managers and policy makers make better investment and policy decisions in supply chain security.

We know this is a busy time of the year for you, but we hope that you will take a few minutes to participate in this research study. To complete the survey online, please go to the URL below and then follow the online survey instructions.

For English versions of the survey, please go to:
http://www.survey2007.freightsecurity.ca/
For Chinese versions of the survey, please go to:

You will not be asked to provide any personal information unless you are interested in receiving an executive summary of the findings and results. All information obtained from this survey is regarded as confidential and will be used solely for the purpose of this study only. Results of the survey will be reported in a summary format, so no one will be able to link you or your organization to your responses.

We would appreciate it if you can complete the survey before 30th June 2007.

If you prefer to answer the questionnaire on paper, you may request for a paper survey by sending an e-mail to securitysurvey2007@freightsecurity.ubc.ca.

If you have any questions about the survey, please do not hesitate to contact myself or Professor Chow. Our contact information can be found at the bottom of this letter.

Thank you very much for your time.

Yours Sincerely,
