University, freight match provider study trucking

TORONTO — The Transport Institute at the University of Manitoba is teaming up with TransCore Link Logistics to research transportation trends in the Canadian trucking industry.

The data will be based on TransCore’s Canadian Loadlink freight matching service and it will focus on economic and policy issues as well as the technical aspects of the industry.

The volume of data generated by Loadlink encompasses over three million freight matches per day. "Thousands of loads and equipment are posted on the largest spot market for surface freight in Canada and cross border freight with the United States," the company says.

Claudia Milicevic of TransCore praised the Transport Institute’s leadership and expertise in "conducting in-depth and practical research that provides valuable insights into the most pressing issues faced by the transportation industry.

"This report will provide visibility into emerging trends that are developing or declining and enable us to share this information with our broker and carrier members."

Members of Loadlink have access to a wide array of products and services such as invoice factoring, credit bureau reports on all members, satellite truck and trailer tracking, breakdown services, truck specific routing and mileage, online recruitment, fuel discount program, ACE border crossing service, dispatch and operations management and much more.

Over 50 percent of Loadlink subscribers are based in Ontario, Quebec and Western Canada and together account for 45 percent, with the latter increasing it’s share of the membership.
