Upper Arrow Lakes ferry ups sailings
LANGLEY, B.C. (April 13, 2005) — The Ministry of Transportation has responded favourably to a B.C. Trucking Association request that dangerous goods sailings across the Upper Arrow Lakes be increased during the summer months.
According to the trucking group, additional sailings are being scheduled from June 17 to September 5, 2005, Monday through Thursday, with a 5:30 p.m. departure from the Shelter Bay terminal.
In the past, due to extra tourist traffic during the summer and stringent Transport Canada regulations about the mixing of dangerous goods and passengers, TDG carriers were often forced to wait several sailings before being allowed to board, BCTA says.
The ferry operator, Western Pacific Marine Ltd., will be briefing local carriers about the additional service prior to the implementation of the summer schedule.
