ABF Raises Rates By 5.4 Percent

FORT SMITH, AR — Less-than-truckload carrier ABF Freight System will increase general rates and charges by 5.4 percent later this month.

Rates will go up by about 5.4 percent effective March 24, but the effect on specific lanes and shipments will vary.

The news comes on the heels of fellow LTL carrier FedEx announcing it will increase general rates by 3.9 percent on March 31.

FedEx previously announced increases to shipping rates for FedEx Express and FedEx Ground, effective Jan. 6.The increase is smaller than last year’s, when FedEx increased freight rates by 4.5 percent, effective July.

ABF Freight System offers services all through Canada, the US as well as in the Dominican Republic, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands.
