U.S. Thanksgiving Prime Time for Cargo Crime

AUSTIN, TX — While we love bacon-wrapped Turduckens for Thanksgiving as much as the next guy, we sure wouldn’t leave our cargo unattended for it.

Thanksgiving weekend had the highest recorded level of cargo crime activity of all the holiday periods in the United States, reported FreightWatch last year.

In total, cargo crime increased 28 percent over holiday periods, and Thanksgiving was the highest amongst that group.

Shippers, manufacturers and transportation companies need to be hyper vigilante on long weekends, advised FreightWatch. Cargo can be stolen, moved, and sold before anyone knows it’s gone.

If you’re traveling through the States this weekend, be safe and keep your eyes and ears open.
