FREMONT, Calif. – @Road, Inc. announced the availability of the @Road J1708 Vehicle Diagnostics service, giving fleet managers and dispatchers remote access to vehicle diagnostic information.

@Road J1708 Vehicle Diagnostics is part of the company’s suite of MRM products and services for the transportation, distribution and facilities management companies.

Information provided by @Road J1708 Vehicle Diagnostics include: Engine diagnostics to help identify and prevent maintenance problems. Fault descriptions to maximize vehicle warranty and pinpoint malfunctions. Separate driving fuel from idle fuel data to reduce state fuel taxes. Driver behavior data to improve driver and public safety, and to help lower insurance rates.

“Fleet owners and operators are continuously looking for ways to lower operational costs and improve driver safety across their entire fleet,” said Leo Jolicoeur, @Road chief marketing officer. “The inclusion of @Road J1708 Vehicle Diagnostics in our suite of MRM services helps fleet managers leverage their investment in @Road, and provides them a powerful new tool to make better informed business decisions to improve their overall mobile resource management objectives.”

The @Road J1708 Vehicle Diagnostics service includes an in-vehicle J1708 connector, data translator and a serial connection to the @Road iLM (Internet Location Manager). Engine performance and driver behavior data is collected from a vehicle’s Electronic Control Module (ECM), transmitted by the @Road iLM over the wireless networks to the @Road data center, and then processed by @Road into meaningful information to produce real-time and historical reports such as Trip Detail, Trip Summary and Exception reports. @Road also plans to add OBDII support to provide similar reports for smaller vehicles such as vans and pickups.

Customers can subscribe to the @Road J1708 Vehicle Diagnostics service for $7.95 per month, per user, plus a one-time fee of $349.00 for the @Road J1708 Vehicle hardware.
