Visa no longer accepted at Flying J facilities

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. — Truckers that fill up at Flying J Truckstops are being warned by the Owner Operators Independent Drivers Association (OOIDA) that the franchise will no longer accept Visa debit or credit cards for diesel purchases as of tomorrow, Friday May 25.

Unleaded gasoline and other convenience store purchases may still be made with Visa cards.

According to OOIDA’s official publication, Land Line, a truckstop official said the decision to refuse the credit card was made due to Visa charging 5 cents per gallon for processing fees per transaction.

Truckers that regularly pump fuel at Flying J stations will either have to use cash, switch to MasterCard, or use THC fleetcard services — a sales transaction subsidiary of Flying J.

Daniel Cordner, a sales representative with Flying J, admitted to Land Line that the THC fleetcard competes with Visa.

However, the truckstop’s official spokesman has still not returned several of Land Line’s requests for more details into why the card is being rejected.

There are hundreds of Flying J locations in the U.S., and about 27 in Canada.
