EDMONTON, Alta. — The Northern Alberta Transportation Club (NATC) is planning National Transportation Week celebrations in Edmonton, Alta. and is asking the industry to help out.

National Transportation Week is held June 2-9 right across Canada. In Edmonton, NATC is bringing attention to the industry through its events centered around the theme "Transportation: Bringing Together Alberta and the World."

NATC says the week will be filled with events showcasing the importance of the province’s trucking industry. Some of the activities in the works include a gala evening, a parade, a job fair and trade show and a golf tournament. The association says it aims to increase the profile of the transportation industry through the events.

Twenty-five per cent of any revenue generated is earmarked for a scholarship fund which will be awarded to a student interested in pursuing a career in transportation.

NATC is asking for people within the transportation industry to help out in representing their sector of the industry. For more information, visit www.ntwedm.ca or call Sharon Blacklock at 780-447-4308.
