GOTHENBURG, Sweden — Total deliveries of trucks from the Volvo Groups three truck companies Mack Trucks, Renault Trucks and Volvo Trucks decreased 6% in January, compared with the same period a year earlier. Total deliveries in North America suffered the biggest hit with a 22% downswing, while the Eastern European market enjoyed a 56% surge in deliveries.

Deliveries from Mack were down 47%, while deliveries from Renault Trucks were down 22%. Deliveries from Volvo Trucks increased 30% compared with January of last year.

Volvo officials noted that deliveries are not the same as retail sales. Deliveries are the trucks which were either transferred to dealer inventories or delivered directly to customers.
