Volvo Trucks names new North American CEO

GREENSBORO, N.C. — Volvo Trucks North America has named Per Carlsson its new president and CEO.

Carlsson is currently responsible for Volvo Powertrain Sweden. He will assume his new responsibilities as head of North American operations on Jan. 1, 2008, the company reports.

The 47-year-old has held various positions within Volvo Group, including CFO of Volvo Trucks. He succeeds Peter Karlsten, who moves on to become president and CEO of Volvo Powertrain. Karlsten also becomes senior vice-president of technology for Volvo Group.

Lars Thoren, currently CFO, will take over as acting president of Volvo Trucks North America.
