Wakefield Canada Sells DEF Business to Recochem

TORONTO — Wakefield Canada Inc. has announced that it is exiting the diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) market and will sell some of its assets and license the H2Blu brand of DEF to Recochem Inc.

“We are pleased with the progress we made in creating a brand and growing it to be a significant player in a new category. That said, Wakefield has significant opportunities in our core lubricants business and this exit will allow us to more effectively focus on them” said Bob MacDonald, Wakefield’s founder.

Wakefield Canada is a privately owned company that markets, distributes and manufactures products for the automotive and heavy-duty vehicle marketplace including Castrol motor oil.

“Recochem is excited about adding these assets we are acquiring from Wakefield to our existing DEF Blue Network,” said Rick Boudreaux, president of Recochem. “Our customers will benefit from 20 terminals, over 30 metered bulk units and state of the art packaging facilities across Canada.”

Recochem is a producer, formulator, contract packager and wholesale distributor of automotive and chemical products from four locations in Canada.
