Watch out for Ottawa’s new reversing lane

OTTAWA, Ont. — Truckers using the Champlain Bridge between Ottawa and Hull will want to be mindful of the time of day.

Starting Aug. 1, from midnight to noon the middle lane will take drivers into Ottawa. It then changes directions, taking drivers into Quebec from noon to midnight.

The lane will be controlled by electronic traffic lights hanging over the road.

“It’s the first that we know of in Ottawa,” says NCC spokesman John Kane. “It’s going to make for a faster, more efficient cross time.”
