Weather can’t dampen Stirling event

STIRLING, Ont. — In spite of rain for most of the weekend, the Stirling 2009 Truck Show was an amazing success, according to the show’s organizers.

The show attracted a little more than 7000 people to the fairgrounds in Stirling, Ont. from June 19 – 21.

The event generated interest from all sectors of the trucking and transportation industry and around 100 vendors and sponsors exhibited a variety of trucks, trailers, heavy-duty parts, tires, and many other services required in the trucking industry.

The wonderful collection of trucks, the pit crew challenge, the circle check, the indoor and outdoor trade show, the show and shine competition, the light show, the seminars, and the memorial highway tribute caught the attention of many people both young and old.

Brent Pecarski took home the coveted People’s Choice award for his rig, which also took first place in the Best 2009 or Newer Company Working Tractor category. A full list of the show and shine winners can be found here.

Entertainment included Ally Howatt, Lazy John, On Tap, and Luke Mercier on the fiddle. The children’s programming included bouncing castles, a carousel, sand pits with toy trucks, rock climbing wall, with the main attraction being “Odessa Mater.”

There was plenty of food including a wine & cheese meet and greet and a wonderful full course turkey dinner sponsored by Choice Reefer Systems. The Show and Shine Awards were presented on Sunday at a special ceremony followed by the farewell parade with truckers being thanked on their departure for their participation.

The organizers look forward to seeing everyone back next year. That’s June 18 – 20, 2010.
