Western Star offers Allison Optimized transmission package

ST. LOUIS, Mo. — Western Star announced a specially-designed Allison Optimized transmission package this morning at the Work Truck Show.

The package is intended for the on-highway and vocational markets, specifically heavy-haul, mixer, dump and short-haul tractor applications, according to the company. The package provides Allison’s best features and duty-cycle knowledge to provide better performance, durability, fuel efficiency and driveline protection, Western Star announced.

Specific features include: shift energy management; prognostics; reduced engine load at stop; load base shift scheduling; auto-neutral;  and TES 295 synthetic fluid.

“We’re working hard to provide our on-highway and vocational customers with superior powertrain solutions that meet the demands of their jobs, and partnering with Allison gets us one step closer to that goal,” said Mike Jackson, general manager, Western Star. “Allison Optimized transmissions provide our customers with a premium package that maximizes efficiency and power for a complete solution.”
