WINDSOR, Ont. (Feb. 11, 2005) — Free and Secure Trade (FAST) driver enrollment centres near the Windsor and Port Huron border crossings will be open longer, effective Monday Feb. 14, 2005.

The FAST driver enrollment centre hours at both offices have been extended in response to U.S. Customs’ Trade Act requirement for all drivers moving BRASS loads to be in possession of a FAST card by May 1, 2005 or risk being turned around at the border.

The enrollment centre at the Port Huron, Mich.-Sarnia, Ont. Blue Water Bridge is open Mon.-Fri. from 8 am to 8 pm; and 8 am to 4 pm on Saturdays. The office is on the second floor of the CBP truck cargo inspection facility on the Port Huron side of the bridge, directly adjacent to the truck parking area.

In Windsor, the enrollment centre is now open Mon.-Fri. from 8 am to 8 pm; and on Saturday from 10 am to 6 pm. It is located at 4285 Industrial Dr. at the Canada Customs secondary inspection station. Call 1-866-340-3278 for more info.

The concept of extending enrollment centre hours to deal with the backlog of drivers awaiting FAST interviews was a key point raised in a recent letter by Canadian Trucking Alliance CEO David Bradley to U.S. Customs.
