Winners Get One Wheel Close to Driving Championships

The Saskatchewan Trucking Association (STA) and Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA) have each named the winners moving on in the 2013 Professional Trucking Driving Championships.

In the on again, off again rain in Regina, SK, Reimer’s Larry Radons beat out 13 other drivers from across the province in the written exam and driving skills competition.

Radons also scored first in the Straight Truck category, one of four in the event. Keith Atherton of SLH Transport took top honours in the B-Train category; Brian Weslowski, also of SLH, was the only entrant in the Single/Single group; Steve Schwenker of Q-Line Trucking snagged first place in the Tandem/Tandem category; “Top Rookie” was awarded to Ken Bourgeois of Yanke*.

For the Atlantic competition, in Truro, NS, Roy Mattinson of Roy B. Mattinson & Sons Trucking claimed top prize in Straight Truck competition; Herb Peters of Day & Ross was number one in the Single Tandem category; Roland Ralph Craig of Midland Transport was top dog in the Tandem/Tandem group; Shawn Pieschke, from the TDL Group, came in first place in B-Train; “Top Rookie” was awarded to Jean-Marc Detraz of Keltic Transportation*.

All of these winners will be competing with their provincial/regional teams at the national level in Abbotsford, B.C. in September.

*Please note that the rookie winners do not compete with the teams at the national level.
