Women with Drive line-up announced

OTTAWA, ON – Trucking HR Canada has unveiled the names of panelists participating in the Women with Drive Leadership Summit, scheduled for March 5 in Toronto.

“We’re excited to welcome such a high-profile array of presenters to the inaugural event,” says Angela Splinter, CEO of Trucking HR Canada. “We know they will share the practical insight and expertise that will help managers recruit, retain and mentor more women in the trucking industry.”

A session called In the Driver’s Seat will feature insights, advice, and personal reflections from accomplished trucking industry executives.

Panelist will include Jane Douziech, Grimshaw Trucking vice president, and vice chair of the Alberta Motor Transport Association (AMTA); Vicki McKibbon, Armour Transportation president – transportation division, and vice chair of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA); and Vicki Stafford, Cavalier Transport vice president – resource development, and chair of the National Advisory Committee for Women with Drive.

Mentorship Matters will highlight mentorship initiatives established by fleets across North America.

Women surveyed by Trucking HR Canada have overwhelmingly said that mentorship opportunities would help eliminate barriers to women in the trucking industry.

Panelists include Cristina Falcone, vice president – public affairs, UPS Canada, Joanne Mackenzie, professional driver and organizer of Trucking for a Cure, and Ellen Voie, president and CEO of the Women in Trucking Association.

Best Practices from Other Industries will look at the examples, challenges and solutions from other industries which share a commitment to increasing and supporting more women in the workforce.

Panelists will include Inspector Marlene Bzdel, director – national recruiting program, Royal Canadian Mounted Police; and Judy Lynn Archer, president and CEO of Women Building Futures. The moderator is Julia Kuzeljevich, editor of Canadian Shipper Magazine.

Trucking HR Canada CEO Angela Splinter will lead a session to explain the details of Canada’s Women with Drive project, and the related action plan designed to help recruit and retain more women in the trucking industry.

And leadership consultant Denise Mclean will conduct an interactive session called Chart Your Career Path to provide tips, tools and techniques on honing leadership skills, enhancing performance, and succeeding in today’s workplace.

There will also be a keynote speaker, networking opportunities, and a reception to toast International Women’s Day.
