VANCOUVER, B.C. — Xantrex Technology, a subsidiary of Schneider Electric, has appointed Will Tomkinson as sales manager for the company’s North American mobile product line, based in Vancouver, B.C.

In his new position, Tomkinson is responsible for servicing and developing both OEM and distributor accounts in the commercial and industrial segments including EMS, material handling, work truck up-fitting, equipment OEM and fleet management. Prior to joining the company, he worked in power electronic sales in the industrial, marine and commercial markets, as well as in marine appliance sales, servicing both OEM and distribution customers. He has also worked in the passenger rail, transport truck and mineral exploration markets.

“We are pleased to welcome Will aboard and believe his broad range of proven sales experience in similar markets will prove beneficial to Xantrex and our valued customers throughout North America,” said David Norman, Xantrex’s director of sales. “Will brings a solid performance track record to the job from multiple industries, coupled with a high degree of commitment to the customer, both of which align perfectly with Xantrex values.”

Added Tomkinson: “It’s a fascinating time in the commercial trucking industry and EMS/fleet vehicle market as new trends such as increased use of technological and equipment loads aboard mobile platforms, and the constant pressure to maximize the effectiveness of energy to save on fuel and reduce emissions, are driving new product innovation. Battery-based mobile systems are proliferating, as are the expectation of the operator and fleet manager. Xantrex is well positioned and fully prepared to meet these needs, and I’m very enthusiastic about bringing workable solutions to our customers.”
