MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. — Xata Corp. has announced David Gagne has been promoted to the role of chief operating officer.

He’ll report to the company’s CEO, Jay Coughlan. In his new role, Gagne will head daily operations and new product development. He’ll also be charged with improving market share and customer satisfaction.

“David is an excellent leader who delivers outstanding results,” said Coughlan. “He’s played a key role in the growth and success of XATA, and I’m confident that his knowledge of our people, our technology and the overall market will ensure that XATA remains the leader in fleet optimization.”

Gagne has worked for Xata since 2007 and was previously executive vice-president, field operations. The company says he was instrumental in the 2009 acquisition of Canadian firm Turnpike Global Solutions.
