TRUCKER DISCOVERS POSSIBLE GANG-RELATED CORPSE
WINNIPEG, Man. — A truck driver running along the Oak Point Highway made a grisly discovery when he came across the possible victim of a gang-related homicide.
The RCMP is investigating the suspicious finding made to the northwest of Winnipeg along an isolated stretch of road between Lucas Avenue and Inkster Boulevard.
Members of the police have indicated to local media that the victim — in his early 20s — may have a connection to Winnipeg’s street gangs. However, they stress the cause of death has not yet been determined.
“We believe the body has been there for a period of time,” says Stonewall RCMP Sgt. Steve Saunders, adding the body was likely hidden beneath ice and snow until recent melting exposed it.
