HWY. 1 TO RECEIVE FACELIFT NEAR CHAPLIN
CHAPLIN, Sask. — A smoother ride is in store for truckers frequenting Hwy. 1 in Saskatchewan, as more than 11 kilometres are slated for resurfacing this summer.
More than $1 million will be invested in the well-travelled stretch of highway that extends through Chaplin.
“It’s essential to keep our provincial sections of the national highway system in good condition because they receive high traffic volumes,” says Highways and Transportation Minister, Pat Atkinson. “By strengthening and surfacing this section, Highway 1 by Chaplin will be capable of handling heavier traffic loads and volumes."
Only the westbound lanes will receive attention this year, with the project commencing in early August.
