More ferry trouble in store for B.C.
MAPLE RIDGE, B.C. — TransLink’s proposed ferry service expansion between Langley and Maple Ridge, B.C. could die on the vine due to a standoff between the two cities.
In January, TransLink approved a $7.9 million plan that would double the capacity of the two vessels that travel that route.
Langley Council, however, has voiced concerns that the increased traffic through historic Fort Langley may not be welcomed by local residents.
TransLink will be discussing those concerns at its May 25 meeting before deciding whether to scrap the plan.
If it goes ahead, the cost of the expansion will be re-cooped through tolls, including a $3 toll for vehicles between 12 and 20 metres in length.
