Peace Arch border crossing garners attention
SURREY, B.C. — The Peace Arch border crossing will soon have a cash infusion giving it a new look and making it more efficient.
TransLink chairman, Doug McCallum, spilled the beans recently after learning the feds are ready to fund the project.
“It is the first time in a long time I’ve seen some infrastructure money on the table, as far as the border is concerned,” McCallum tells local media. “They’re going to redo the Peace Arch completely, the border building there and all the approaches, to make it a lot smoother.”
McCallum says the money may come from the Strategic Highway Infrastructure Program, which includes a slush fund for borders and transportation planning.
