New corridor taking shape in N.B.
RIVERVIEW, N.B. — Town council will vote on a motion at tonight’s monthly meeting, aimed at clearing the way for the property survey to begin for the first phase of the east-west corridor.
If passed, this will grant permission to the town to enter private land to do the required survey work to the east-west connector route from the new Petitcodiac River crossing to Findlay Boulevard.
It brings council one step closer in its aim to eventually complete the long-awaited east-west connector road, which will provide a secondary thoroughfare through the community. The first phase for the thoroughfare will start at the new crossing, move south behind Coverdale Road along Whitepine Road and onto Findlay.
The contract for the survey was awarded to Key Surveys and Engineering Ltd. of Moncton for a cost of $51,800 plus tax. The town hopes to finish the first phase of the east-west connector road in time to coincide with completion of the new Petitcodiac River crossing.
The meeting is scheduled to get under way at 7 p.m. in council chambers.
