B.C. Ministry to sell weigh scales to help pay for roadwork
ABBOTSFORD, B.C. — The City of Abbotsford and B.C. Ministry of Transportation are exploring a number of ways to fund the four-laning of Hwy. 11.
The well traveled Abbotsford-Mission Highway (Hwy. 11) is in desperate need of expansion to accommodate an increased level of traffic flow, according to officials.
The ministry claims that they will sell the Sumas Way weigh scale to help generate money for the highway project. The ministry is also considering selling off property in Abbotsford to raise some much needed cash.
Also on the region’s priority list, is the Mt. Lehman interchange which city officials would like to give a facelift. Negotiations have stalled over land issues and financing, so it could be some time before improvements are made at this dangerous interchange.
