Goodyear searching for heroic truckers

AKRON, Ohio — Goodyear has once again put out the call for truckers who have come to the rescue of fellow motorists.

The 24th annual North America Highway Hero program is now underway, with nominations accepted through Nov. 30.

“As we’ve seen in the past, you can either stop to help or continue on your way when you drive up to an accident,” says Steve McClellan, vice-president for Goodyear Commercial Tire Systems. “It’s a choice – a choice between helping someone in need and not wanting to get involved. Fortunately, most truck drivers do the right thing. They make our highways safer and keep our economy running.”

To qualify for the award, drivers must be: a full-time truck driver; a resident of the US or Canada; on the job at the time of the incident; and driving a truck with 14 wheels or more at the time of the incident. Also, the incident must have occurred in the US or Canada between Nov. 16, 2005 and Nov. 15, 2006.

For nomination forms, call the Hero Hotline at 330-796-8183 or visit www.goodyear.com/truck/whatsnew/heroes.html.
