Mitchell 1 adds unit number search to TruckSeries for enterprise fleets

Mitchell 1 has introduced a new search capability within its TruckSeries repair information platform that allows enterprise fleets to access service information using internal unit numbers rather than vehicle identification numbers.

The feature, called Unit Number Search, was unveiled during a press conference at the Technology & Maintenance Council Annual Meeting & Transportation Technology Exhibition.

Kristy Coffman, director of Mitchell 1’s Commercial Vehicle Group, said the feature is designed to help technicians at large fleets quickly locate repair information for Classes 4-8 vehicles by using the unit numbers commonly displayed on fleet equipment.

“Enterprise fleets manage hundreds or even thousands of vehicles, each identified by a unique unit number painted on the side,” Coffman said. “Unit Number Search enables technicians to quickly pull up the correct repair information using the identifier they work with every day, helping them find the right information faster and keep trucks moving.”

Instead of searching by VIN or identifying the correct sub-model, technicians can enter a fleet’s internal asset tag into the search bar. Fleets provide Mitchell 1 with a mapping of those asset tags to specific vehicles, allowing the system to automatically direct users to the correct service information.

Automated synchronization between the fleet’s vehicle database and TruckSeries ensures the information remains current, the company said.

The announcement comes as Mitchell 1 marks 20 years serving the commercial vehicle repair sector with online service information.

Today, more than 500 TMC Recommended Practices are integrated within the TruckSeries platform.

Mitchell 1, part of the Snap-on Total Shop Solutions brand family, develops repair information and shop management tools for the automotive and commercial vehicle industries. Its Manager SE Truck Edition software integrates with TruckSeries to help commercial truck shops manage workflow, diagnostics, and repair information for Classes 4-8 vehicles.
