WABCO buys Meritor’s stake in partnership

TROY, MI - WABCO Holdings is upping the ante in its North American ownership, announcing this morning that it is taking full control of the he Meritor WABCO joint venture. In a press release, WABCO Holdings said it was purchasing Meritor's stake in the joint venture business, with a transaction that is expected to close Oct. 1. Meritor WABCO, a distributer of WABCO products for commercial vehicles in North America, employs about 200 people and had sales of $300 million in fiscal year 2016 With this agreement, WABCO will take over the former joint venture's application engineering and supply chain operations, including the distribution center and customer service hub in Hebron, Kentucky.

CTEA conference looks to the future

WINDOSR, ON - From the future of carbon pricing to the latest in trailer manufacturing, the 2017 Canadian Transportation Equipment Association's (CTEA) annual conference and trade fair is looking forward with optimism. Called "Up the Ante: Innovate!," the 54th annual manufacturers conference is being held at Caesar's Windsor Oct. 23-25, and is being billed as a place for members, vocational truck manufacturers, their dealers, suppliers, and service providers to network.

Ontario government seeks feedback on proposed rebates

TORONTO, ON - The Government of Ontario is seeking input on a proposed program that will provide rebates to fleets towards the purchase of alternative-fuel trucks and fuel-saving technologies. The Green Commercial Vehicle program (GCVP), a part of the Ontario Climate Change Action Plan introduced in 2016, would provide up to $170 million for electric and natural gas-powered commercial vehicles, infrastructure and temperature controlled trailer technology - as well as tractor-trailer aerodynamic devices and anti-idling devices.
