Our Transportation Media Research Group launched its second annual Transportation Buying Trends Survey in early October. This ground-breaking research, which should be of high interest to carriers, will detail shipper spending plans, freight volumes and priorities for the coming year. It is being conducted in partnership with the Canadian Industrial Transportation Association and CITT.

Meanwhile, editorial director Lou Smyrlis was invited to provide the closing remarks for the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transportation ‘s infrastructure conference in Ottawa in September.

“We are at a crossroads in our transportation infrastructure strategy – and the future of our country depends on the decisions we make,” Smyrlis said.

“If we allow our infrastructure problems to become an obstacle in the river of North American commerce, then commerce will simply flow around us.”

Earlier in the month Smyrlis was part of two panels delving into transportation issues and the future of our Atlantic region as a gateway at an event hosted by the Port of Halifax.
