Cancom Tracking, has added another feature to its SensorTRACS offering.

Hard Braking is currently available to Cancom equipped customers who are also equipped with SensorTRACS. Operating primarily on AS400, Hard Braking works with Cancom’s proprietary software QTRACS. Once the QTRACS software detects a decrease in speed of nine miles per second the on-board computer sends a message alerting dispatch via satellite. One of OmniTRACS’ largest customers in the United State feels that Hard Braking is a key indicator of driver safety and adherence to driving rules. Other companies are using Hard Braking as a driver behaviour modification tool to encourage safe driving habits.

SensorTRACS interfaces directly with a vehicle’s sensor inputs to provide RPM, speed, and idle summaries so you can isolate vehicle operations in the driver’s control.

McLeod software offers lane analysis module

McLeod Software’s new LoadMaster Lane Analysis Module provides truck fleet managers with the ability to analyze revenue and vehicle utilization using online queries, pre-loaded reports, and creating custom reports.

The new software allows carriers to retrieve data from their system that will help them identify profitable lanes. Relevant load data is gathered from Loads Entry, Dispatch/Movements, and Driver Settlement. The data is then consolidated on one screen, providing extensive load detail information.

The Lane Analysis module can also produce reports that allow carriers to control the sort order, as well as the sub-total levels. Features include on-screen queries by the day-of-week, revenue per hour, revenue per mile, commodity, shipper, consignee, bill-to, delay time at stop-off and pickup, bridge account, salesperson and more.

New onboard computer options for truck fleets

International Road Dynamics (IRD) and Siemens VDO Automotive will be working together to provide on-board computers and diagnostic software for commercial vehicles.

The Siemens technology consists of an in-cab reporting system, in-vehicle sensors and a radio frequency transmitter. This allows drivers and fleet managers to monitor driver performance.

Siemens claims the system improves fleet performance by re-enforcing proper driving techniques.

Under the arrangement, IRD will provide integration of Siemens’ VDO systems and will provide installation and after-sales support.

Rand McNally addresses needs of smaller fleets

Rand McNally has begun the new year with the launch of new RouteTools small Fleet Edition routing software for fleets with up to 25 trucks.

Created by Rand McNally’s transportation data management subsidiary, Rand McNally – TDM, Inc., RouteTools Small Fleet Edition builds upon the features of the previously released RouteTools Professional Driver Edition to deliver a routing and mapping solution designed specifically for the needs of small fleet trucking companies.

“Our technical team designed the new RouteTools(tm) Small Fleet CD-ROM software to help provide a competitive advantage for small fleets. It enables small fleets to better plan routes, avoid construction delays, select routes for hazardous materials to avoid ticketing, and customize loads more effectively, all of which reduces operating costs and increases profitability,” said Shel Greenberg, general manager of Rand McNally’s transportation data management subsidiary.
