Detroit Diesel gets SAE award

DETROIT, Mich. -The Society of Automotive Engineers (SAE) has named Detroit Diesel Corp. (DDC) and its Powerplant and Off Highway divisions Company of the Year.

The SAE says it selected Detroit for the 1999 honor based on five key areas:

– new products and services;

– manufacturing processes;

– quality;

– application of technologies;

– and, customer service.

Detroit Diesel’s Series 4000 engine was the product featured in the award. It features electronic controls and common rail fuel injection, features also found on DDC’s new on-highway automotive diesel line up .
