Funding for green work on Trans-Lab route Phase 3 set (July 01, 2001)

HAPPY VALLEY-GOOSE BAY, Nfld. – The provincial government has earmarked $1 million to prepare an environmental impact statement on Phase 3 of the Trans-Labrador Highway between here and Cartwright, Nfld.

The announcement was made by Labrador and Aboriginal Affairs Minister Ernest McLean, in conjunction with Works, Services and Transportation Minister Percy Barrett.

“Government recognizes that before construction of Phase 3 can begin, we have to fulfill the requirements of the Environmental Assessment Act,” says McLean.

“I’m pleased to be able to commit $1 million to the process,” the minister adds. n
