Moiny receives safety award
ETOBICOKE, Ont. – The Motor Vehicle Safety Association held their 18th annual Safety to Motor Transportation evening and focused on an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to road safety in Ontario for years.
This year’s award went to Armand Moiny, the new senior adviser and training specialist at Markel Insurance Company of Canada.
The chair of the Ontario Trucking Association’s safety council, Moiny has been a member for the past 10 years, as well as a member of the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association.
Prior to spending 23 years with TNT Logistics North America as manager of training, safety and compliance, Moiny was safety manager at Hendry and Westway. He provides safety training annually to owner/ operators and drivers, in addition to managers and supervisors from fleets across Canada and the U.S. Classes cover anything from defensive driving to log book entry.
Moiny says receiving the award has been a humbling experience. And it couldn’t have come at a better time.
“Great things happened to me in the past 30 days,” he explains. He recently took on his new position with Markel. As well he just celebrated his 37th wedding anniversary.
“It’s a great surprise because there are a lot of people that really could have been selected and for me to get it was a great joy,” says Moiny. n
