More lumber to Grande Prairie
GRANDE PRAIRIE, Alta. – Ainsworth Lumber will be hauling more lumber through the County of Grand Prairie, and has met with councillors to discuss the impact on infrastructure.
More logging trucks will be hauling through the west end of the county next winter, when Ainsworth begins harvesting a new permit in the Saddle Hills area. Of the 120,000 cubic meters to be harvested through the project, half will be hauled through the county to their mill near Grande Prairie. Ainsworth Lumber representative, Grant Williams, says the impact on infrastructure and residents will be minimal.
“We’ve hauled from the Saddle Hills area every year but always going through the north,” Williams told councillors. “This would be the first time we hauled south out of the Saddle Hills area.” n
