No way!
Dear Editor,
I am enjoying your coverage of the “speed limiter” argument. I am the only driver in a speed-limited fleet (90 km/h in Canada; 100 km/h for U.S.-bound trucks) who loves the computer. The speed limiter is just a program in the chip that runs the truck, not an add-on.
A fleet limit is a good thing; it removes one more variable in a fluid situation and makes driver comparisons more quantifiable. As for limiting all trucks to the same speed – NO WAY. The differences in load weight, engine torque, etc. would be enough to send everybody’s blood pressure up.
