Phaneuf Appointed Executive Editor

DON MILLS, Ont. – We are pleased to announce the appointment of Ingrid Phaneuf to the position of executive editor. Ingrid was chosen following a lengthy selection process and a three-month training period, which included ongoing instruction in industry trends, issues and technology.

Many of you may have heard from her already, as she has spearheaded our comprehensive coverage of the new border legislation among other key news issues. We were very impressed with Ingrid’s credentials and her already demonstrated abilities to help our news organization grow to a new level of editorial excellence.

Coming to us with 12 years of award-winning editorial experience under her belt, Ingrid was most recently employed as the city editor of the Peterborough Examiner. Prior to that she spent time as a reporter with the Montreal Gazette.

She also spent two years writing news and features with the Hill Times newspaper on Parliament Hill in Ottawa. Her work has also appeared in Canadian Lawyer and The National Post. She is a winner of the Blue Ribbon Award from the Canadian Community Newspaper Association.

She holds a graduate diploma in journalism from Concordia University and is fluent in French.

Ingrid will be reporting directly to Editorial Director Lou Smyrlis. Please join us in welcoming Ingrid to our team and this challenging position.
