GREEN BAY, Wis. – Schneider Logistics and Caterpillar Logistics Services will work together allowing the latter to optimize its transportation network in North America.

“This agreement will support one of Caterpillar’s six Sigma projects for process improvement to reduce transportation costs while maintaining high service levels for Caterpillar’s parts and products,” says Steve Wunning, head of Caterpillar Logistics Services and vice-president of Caterpillar Inc.

“The initiative not only implements a centralized transportation optimization approach of truck shipments across the enterprise, but will improve transportation processes for Caterpillar facilities, suppliers and carriers.”

Schneider Logistics will serve as the Application Services Provider (ASP) for transportation management technology.

Schneider’s SUMIT suite of applications will be used by Cat Logistics to provide transportation management as well as shipment information throughout the supply chain. Schneider’s technology provides the software tools for Cat Logistics to optimize multiple transportation methods for inbound and outbound shipments while providing the ability to track and trace material that is in transit. Caterpillar Logistics Services, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Caterpillar, provides a full range of logistics services to Caterpillar and nearly 40 external clients through a network of more than 75 distribution facilities throughout the world.
