Once the conversion is completed using Shell ELC conversion fluid, cooling system protection is provided for up to 600,000 miles or 12,000 hours of service, the company says. A typical conversion usually takes less than one hour to perform and doesn’t require draining and refilling of coolant.
Shell also says that once the conversion is completed, the cooling system will never again need to have supplemental coolant additives added. The new CD says the Shell Extended Life Coolant Program works with all heavy-duty diesel and natural gas engines in North America.
“The use of extended life coolant has proven to be a successful, cost-effective alternative to conventional and fully-formulated coolants,” said Dan Arcy, technical marketing manager for Shell. “To that end, we produced the CD to help simplify the conversion for all of our customers.”
