Shell Rotella T user racks up 2M miles on engine

CALGARY, Alta. – Shell has announced an Alberta trucker has accumulated more than two million miles on the same engine using Shell Rotella T engine oil.

Stephen Large racked up the mileage during two consecutive one million mile segments on his 1990 Kenworth truck powered by a Cat 3406b engine. Large was named the first Rotella T Million Mile Haul of Famer, the company says.

“This is an incredible achievement for both Stephen and Rotella T,” said David Benjatschek, category manager, heavy-duty engine oils, Shell Canada Products. “Stephen was first inducted into the Haul of Fame in November 1997. Eight years and another million miles later, Stephen has proven that Rotella T is the trucker’s best friend for long engine life.”

The two million miles travelled by Large is the equivalent to 80 trips around the world or 10,600 trips between Calgary and Edmonton, Shell points out. He accumulated the miles without touching his truck’s camshaft, crankshaft or the engine block. The Rotella T Million Mile Haul of Fame recognizes Canadian transport drivers who accumulate a million miles on engines using exclusively Rotella T engine oil without a major engine overhaul. There are currently 37 members in the Haul of Fame. For more information, visit www.shell.ca.
