Smith represented us well on the CBC

Dear Editor,

I was recently listening to CBC Radio when I heard your interview with one of the radio hosts. I must compliment you on your concise and eloquent discussion on the crisis that the trucking industry and owner/operators are facing today.

I realize you had a very short time to make your point and that it can be difficult to do so in that kind of situation. You did a very good job of representing our interests to the public. They are not really aware of what impact the trucking industry has on their daily lives. Perhaps anyone listening to the show now has a better understanding of how negative factors such as high fuel prices and poor rates for truckers will have an eventual negative effect on consumers as well.

Quite often, self-appointed spokesmen from within our industry – when given a forum to speak on the issues – are so frustrated that they cannot relate the problems we are facing in a rational way. It is good that you were able to speak on our behalf.
