Stewart named chief whip for Harris’ Tories
QUEEN’S PARK, Ont. – Gary Stewart has made the transition to the Ontario provincial government’s inner circle as of Aug. 7. Stewart, the driving force behind a bill that would allow the trucker training industry to clean up its act and eliminate licensing mills, was sworn in to Cabinet as chief government whip and deputy government house leader. Premier Mike Harris appointed Stewart, 63, after the resignation of Frank Klees. Stewart was first elected in 1995. n
