MONCTON, N.B. – Canada’s top drivers were crowned at the National Truck Driving Championships hosted by the Atlantic Provinces Trucking Association (APTA) earlier this fall. The championships featured the winners of each provincial competition held throughout the summer.

The event included the first female competitor to take part in a national competition.

Karen King of Purolator Courier in Ontario took top honours in the step van class.

The best driver in the straight truck category was Larry Radons of Reimer Express Lines in Saskatchewan.

The single/single category was taken by Jose Vergara of JD Smith and Sons in Ontario.

Herb Peters of Day and Ross did Team Atlantic proud by winning the single tandem class while Dan Congdon of Team Ontario won the tandem/tandem class on behalf of Reimer Express Lines.

The Super B Train category was won by Chris Vanderzwan representing Team Ontario and Petro Canada.

Reimer’s Congdon was recognized as Rookie of the Year and Vanderzwan was named Grand Champion.

Team Ontario was named the top team in the competition.
