Crime Stoppers needs your help in solving the following crime:

Some time after 6 p.m. on Dec. 31, 1999, a tractor and trailer was stolen from a Barrie, Ont. truck yard. Police responding to a fire call at 247 Finchdene Square (a paint manufacturing facility) at 9:52 p.m. on Jan. 1 discovered the trailer engulfed in flames, and managed to disconnect and move the tractor away before it, too, caught on fire.

Police believe the trailer was set on fire to cover any evidence of the theft of cargo or to conceal that theft. Property within the trailer, either stolen or destroyed in the fire, was estimated at $20,000 in value. The estimated value of the trailer, which was totally destroyed by the fire, was $80,000.

If you have any information about this crime, please contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). All calls are completely confidential. Cash rewards will be given for information leading to an arrest. n
